London-based pop singer-songwriter Lily Allen will be returning to the music stage soon, after a three year hiatus - and she'll be performing under a brand new working name to commemorate it.

The 27-year-old star, who's always been known as Lily Allen, will now write, record, and perform under her married name Lily Rose Cooper, and she'll be using that name if she puts out any new singles or even a new album in the coming months. A statement from her publicist said: "The singer will now be known as Lily Rose Cooper, the name she already uses on her Twitter account."

Allen began a hiatus in 2009, with a last performance along Muse at the Wembley Stadium in September 2010, after getting married to now-husband Sam Cooper and having a baby, but the star recently confirmed that she'd been in the studio and working on new material. While it may be some time before anything comes out - she's just become pregnant for the second time - it's a welcome return for one of Britain's favourite artists.

Talking of her new musical endeavours, Allen said: "It's great to work at my own pace, with no commitments other than to make music. I'm excited to be heading back into the studio."

Meanwhile, Lily Allen went on to launch a fashion line and clothing rental shop with her sister Sarah and then, last year, a record label.
