The heartfelt record captures the trials of heartbreak and personal growth.

Brighton indie-pop trio Orchards announce their sophomore album Bicker, releasing March 28 via Big Scary Monsters. The record, set to drop on March 28 through Big Scary Monsters, follows their 2020 debut Lovecore and 2021’s Trust Issues EP.

Recorded at Jack Wilson of Fickle Friends’ home studio in Shoreham, England, the 10-track album includes fan favorites like I Feel Terrible, Sweetie Pie, and Mug Song. The latest single, Groan, showcases the band’s signature bright, hook-laden indie-pop sound.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind Groan, vocalist Lucy Evers shared:
“I was going through a really tough therapy session, and my therapist asked me, ‘Why do you feel the need to fix this?’ I didn’t have an answer. It hit me when she said, ‘You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.’ That moment made me realize the only person who can truly fix something is yourself. But healing isn’t linear—you can be ‘getting better’ and still find yourself scream-crying in the bath.”

The band—comprised of Evers, guitarist Sam Rushton, and bassist Dan Fane—describes Bicker as “the quintessential breakup album,” exploring themes of heartbreak, personal growth, and inner conflict.

Evers elaborated, “Whether platonic or romantic, this album captures the trials and battles of losing a part of your heart—or the fight between your gut and your mind. For full disclosure, I’ve learned to always trust my gut. She hasn’t been wrong yet.”

With tracks that range from heartbreaking to hopeful, Evers assures listeners, “Every word and note on this album is back-breakingly true. We mean every one of them.”

To celebrate the release of Bicker, Orchards will embark on a UK headline tour this April. The tour includes a performance at Cardiff’s Noizzefest at Clwb Ifor Bach on April 26. Tickets are available now.

Orchards’ Bicker arrives on March 28, promising a heartfelt and authentic journey through the ups and downs of emotional healing.
