It's their first single from their upcoming album, produced by Rostam, that hints at a fresh direction for the sister trio.
HAIM is back with a brand-new single, "Relationships," marking their first release from an upcoming fourth studio album on Columbia Records. While details such as the album’s title and release date remain under wraps, the song offers a glimpse into what fans can expect. Alongside the release, HAIM dropped a visually striking music video, directed by Camille Summers-Valli and starring actor Drew Starkey.
The sister trio—Danielle, Este, and Alana Haim—have collaborated once again with Rostam Batmanglij, who co-produced the song. "Relationships" stands out as a pop-infused outlier on what is otherwise described as a more rock-focused album, according to a press release. The song’s lyrics explore the feeling of being trapped in a complicated relationship, adding emotional depth to its infectious melody.
HAIM’s last album, Women in Music Pt. III (2020), was widely praised, earning two Grammy nominations and landing at #3 on the Top 100 Albums of 2020 list. Since then, the band has released a series of one-off singles, including "Cherry Flavored Stomach Ache" and "Lost Track," as well as collaborations with Taylor Swift and Toro y Moi.
Alana Haim also made her acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2021 film Licorice Pizza, showcasing her talents beyond music.
While HAIM has remained relatively quiet about new music in recent years, they teased a possible collaboration with Jai Paul in a 2023 BBC Radio 6 interview, adding to the anticipation surrounding their next album.
