Mayhem will feature her new singles: Disease and Die With a Smile. This album marks her fearless return to pop music.

Lady Gaga is officially back! The pop icon announced on Monday that her highly anticipated new album, Mayhem, will be released on March 7. The 14-track record will feature the previously released singles Disease and Die With a Smile, with the full tracklist to be revealed in the coming weeks. The album was executive produced by Gaga herself, alongside Andrew Watt and her fiancé, Michael Polansky.

Reassembling the Pieces: Gaga’s Vision for Mayhem

Describing the creative process behind Mayhem, Gaga explained, “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved.” She likened the journey to “reassembling a shattered mirror,” adding, “Even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”

Grammy Debut and Speculation Surrounding the Album

Gaga plans to debut the music video for the album’s third single during a commercial break at the Grammy Awards on February 2. Fans first began speculating about the Chromatica follow-up—teasingly referred to by Gaga as her "2024 record Harlequin LG6.5"—back in September. At the time, she hinted during the promotion of Joker: Folie à Deux that the album would drop in early 2025.

She fueled the excitement with the release of the single Disease, followed by teasers such as a massive billboard in Times Square and a countdown clock on her website, which culminated in Monday’s announcement. Her 2024 collaboration with Bruno Mars, Die With a Smile, will also appear on the record, serving as a bookend alongside Disease on the otherwise unreleased tracklist.

A Year of Creativity and Milestones

In addition to working on Mayhem, Gaga has had a whirlwind year. She performed Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, headlined a Kamala Harris election rally, and is set to take center stage at Coachella later this year. Speaking with Vogue about her creative process, Gaga shared, “There’s a lot of pain associated with this adventure, and when I start to explore that pain, it can bring out another side to my artistry. When I’m here at this studio, I’m relaxed, and I’m able to face my demons. What’s remarkable is… that’s the music. I’m able to hear it back.”

What’s Next for Little Monsters?

As anticipation builds, fans can look forward to even more surprises from Gaga in the lead-up to the release of Mayhem. For now, they can watch the official album trailer below and gear up for what promises to be one of the most memorable projects of her career.
